Re: door handle for mot
If handle is visiably broken it could fail, if it was removed completly and just taped over it wont fail.

If it ain't explicitly in the tester's manual as a "Reason for Rejection", it isn't a fail.
Unfortunately...

"a passenger door cannot be opened from outside the vehicle using the relevant control."

Or remove the seat, then it's not a "passenger door"...

Re: door handle for mot
Mine failed on not having one, think it was because i had seat belts in the back. and the door has to be able to be opened from the outside. jen

Re: door handle for mot
Ours has passed for the last 8 years with a broken stub for a sliding door handle, 2 different MOT stations as well.
We have a new (to us) handle that will be fitted during the last stage of the current restoration though
(£35 we had to pay for a used one
)

I consider it to be a useful addition my security mesures. I've got used to opening it with a broken stud for two years
If one comes along I'll bu it, bit if anyone thinks they're getting 20 quid for a door handle they can walk on

Until we realised that as far as we could determine they always command around £35 (used), so took the plunge (could not have a full resto with a broken handle

Re: door handle for mot
Jammy is the word. I just came across this bloke who had an old camper full of old camper stuff. I got both handle for the front interior doors, cowling for under the steering wheel, badge for the back, ash tray, fuel filler down pipe, and a horn button. There's a few bits left so I'll be going back.
