1.9aaz cuts out now and again

Post by redtwoseater »

Hi folks, being running this reconditioned engine for about 3 months now (1.9 aaz td ) But it has been cutting out on me when stopping at junctions, traffic. The red battery and oil light come on seconds before so I get ready to pull over. It happens now and again. It starts up ok afterwards. Not being a mechanic, what should I look at first??
Thanks for any help
Paul.

Hi, I suppose I have got a bunch of keys with a key ring on. I will try with just the ignition key in.
Thanks Paul.

Sounds electrical, as the others have said. If you cannot find fault at the ignition switch, suggest checking the wiring as far as the fuel cut-off solenoid on the injection pump. If this loses its power, even intermittently, it will stop you in your tracks. Also check the engine earth strap, as it is required for same.

The fuel stop on the back of the pump needs the terminal cleaning on mine roughly every year or so.

Have had a similar problem. Turned out that there was some water in the fuel tank. Would run albeit a bit lumpy but then cut out when revs dropped. Missing bolt at the filler neck was letting water in over time. Tank now out, drained, cleaned, primed. Going to be sealed then refitted. I'll post again if problem persists.
