I have made a bike rack for the back of my van. It has worked well for the last few years with three bike fiamma trays. What I would like to do is make it into a four bike rack. Is there anybody who has a four bike rack that could measure the optimum distance between them from centre to centre. When I tried to do it before there was not enough room for the four bikes.
Many thanks
As soon as I know the distances I can make the rack!

I have a 4 bike rack on mine and the rails for the tyres are 6" apart (centre to centre) - actually, it's a Fiamma rack for a T4 but with the addition of a couple of extra straps it fits fine and carries 4 bikes easily (although there were only 3 on when I took the picture)

I would like you to give me cash at the bank!
there are 4 bike rails - count the red end bits, the closest one to the camera doesn't have a bike on, the other 3 do but my typing leaves something to be desired
Thanks for that. My last rack that I built was 5" apart and was to tight to get the bikes on. The kids bikes are now bigger and I was eager to get the gaps right without looking as if I had a trailer at the back of me.
I will go for just over 6" and look to strengthen the bottom struts. I'll put up photos when I finish it.
Thanks for the photo disasterbus. The van looks really good, really straight.
