squeaky wheel

hi all, first things first, 1980 a/c devon, cu motor.
i have a squeak from the front n/s wheel, it goes away if i dab the brakes but comes back after a mile or so.disapears under braking .there is no rumbling sound and i can`t detect too much play in the wheel. any ideas would be great. thanks for reading.

either its what Ian has said or the pads have wear detectors that will squeak when low, time for some stripping !

I had this a while back, turned out to be a seized caliper. Was fine for the first mile or so, then got gradually worse as the wheel/disc got hotter.

thanks for the ideas , i will have to strip the wheel off at the week end and have a look, :ok
