Can anyone identify this problem please? As you can see its just below the dizzy. As if a rubber bung or plug is missing? Does not seem to be under any pressure. Just gently seeping out.

just had a quick look at a 1.9 dg motor i have on the bench, this hole would seem to be for a bolt, on this engine its not had anything in it. and it should not be possible for oil to come out ! you sure it not running down and collecting here? may be give it a wipe and keep checking it,
It could be coming from the distributor shaft seal. They go hard in time. Cheap and easy to fit. If it's anything like mine you'll be surprised how brittle the old seal is when you remove it.
Cheers Rich
If its not a case of thread stealing - could I just ask if the picture depicts a standard orientation of the dizzy i.e the mushroom position in relation to dizzy holding down bolt fuel pump etc. for a DG.

This is a gassed DJ with a DG carb but I'm sure you'll get the idea.

Cheers for the info.
Ive just taken another look at oil leak. And as mentioned above it is coming from base of dizzy, fuel pump and black tower. The hole with oil in (see original photo) is a threaded for ancillary item, I suspect, and is a about 25mm deep.
Gently nipped down nuts for oil tower, bit more on fuel pump and will replace seal on dizzy.
Many thanks
