Tdi mpg?

Post by ELVIS »

What sort of mpg are any of you chaps/chappess' getting on a 2wd?

after 'genuine' figures if poss, not guesstimates or ones worked out from 'dodgy' trip meters and massively big/small tyres

'Brimmed' using a shatnav would be good! :ok

Hello,

I have a tdi with .23 injectors, a VA vnt turbo - 2wd drive with a hideous high roof, 2 people + loads of tools + camping gear - motorway with cruise control sat at 65 on the satnav (2700 rpm with my gearbox + tyres) - 140 miles motorway driving recorded on satnav (bit of speeding up and slowing down along the way of course) - recorded 37mpg when I filled it to the brim again - not as good as some people say they're getting. IQ set pretty lean when I did that run.

Been logging our mpg for some while and it does vary. Between 27 and 30 on short trips and between 32 and 35 on long journeys - all depending on the driving style, the roads and the terrain. Obviously motorway driving for the higher figure. I would hate to think what we'd get roaming around the Alps using the old roads and passes.

Mind you our 1Z is pushing along some weight along even when it's not fully loaded.

I know you said 2wd Elvis but as I know the figures for mine as I did a tester on Sunday you might find it useful. I drove from Glasgow to London and it was 423 miles. I used 55l of fuel exactly and drove a steady 60mph on the flat and speeded up to 65mph up the hills with the odd foot down to bomb past trucks and when I got board and wanted to fanny around. I had it in fourth gear when I got on the motor way in Glasgow and changed down to third once to get round a round about then It was in fourth again until I was two miles from my house

AFN standard, on a Westfalia pop top Syncro with no gearing mods and 215/75/15 tyres 35mpg. (I now have bigger tyres so am looking at getting a little bit more now)

We have a 1.9TDI (AHU) but fitted with the original manual 1.6 fuel pump (Modified to give 200Bar pressure) therefore using existing manual throttle control. Also fitted is a WAECO cruise controller. Have not really taken her on a long run yet but we travel at weekends from Leicestershire to Cromer 1/3 of travel on back roads, cruise at 60 and are getting 39.4 MPG.
Sorry forgot fitted with the 5 speed gearbox.

Cheers chap!

Bought a Whitestar from southern irleland and turns out it although advertised as being an AAZ had a 1Z already fitted, result

Have bought a 5 sp box for it with 4.14 diff and modded 5th gear so hopfully will see half decent mpg :ok
