upper front balljoints.

Post by dazzerT251900td »

Hi everyone.

Thinking of renewing my upper front ball joints. Is it just a case of undoing the two hexagon bolts and using a universal ball joint separator to release it from the wheel hub.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Basically yes, a small blow torch can be handy to heat the aforementioned socket head capscrews as they can be ferkin tight. I fill the head of the replacement screws with either coppaslip or silicone sealant so you get a good purchase the next time you do the job.

Small terminal screw driver to work out all the crud from the head, bit of a blow. A couple of smacks with a lump hammer square on to the head (but not so hard it damages it) then insert a good quality allen key...trick is to make sure that the key goes ALL the way into the head (people tend to rush, don't clean the head out so the key doesn't fully insert and ends up rounding off).

You may wish to swap your bushes to these ... http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=s ... yword=bush The standard wishbone bushes are fine from Brickwerks though.
