Bloody hell!!! Has it been in the sea for a long time?

Brickwerks do the jacking points/swingarm bracket, the sill will need panels making if Alan Schofield's can't help.

and if you ever want to use the jacking point for jacking, it looks like you will need to take off the outer panel ( front side of wheel arch above jacking point) and do a substantial rebuild inside too.

and i wouldnt drive over any bumps till you have done it

which side of the van is this on - there was a full new inner sill for sale on ebay (I think) the other day

schofields have just started to do the jacking points - they are about £48 each as i got a new products leaflet at dubfreeze on sunday!!
They also do the inner and outer panels you will need.......

Recently tho, I was speaking to fellow T25 owner and he reckons the sills aren't structural on the T25 as it's a mono(something or other) chassis design. So not an MOT failure. Is this right??

i think that in the middle of sills and the front you could get away with it but you cant have excessive corrosion within 12" of important bits like suspension mounting points etc.

Chassis and Attachments
Chassis main member/ body structure/
cross member/ outrigger severely
corroded/ seriously deformed/
fractured/ displaced/ insecure/ missing

Excessive corrosion, cracks or damage
of a load bearing member within 30cm
of a body mounting.

If you can convince the tester that it isnt a load bearing member then you might get away with it but you might as well at least cut out and replace or even patch the area while you are working on that bit anyway.

If your going to do this job then do it right - sills are a massive job to change ...there is emptying the van of furniture/fittings etc, flooring not to mention a paint job after!

I did find out. And it wasn't!!



There's a little story goes with it tho. I'd fitted the propshaft in a dodgy bolt one end and let Tyson roll whilst under it and fit bolts as flange turned..!

But I changed engine oil at same time but the Syncro's engine protect-plate has to come off with other extra chassis-support rails (just wire brushed those and hammerite [other rust paints are available] painted those up! - nice)
Anyhow, the tow hitch had to come off but I quickly put it back on and only bolts thru and not secured. Fitted propshaft and set off on test. A few corners and speedbumps later all is well. Great. Put foot down to get across main road when clunk, grind, grim. Thought it proshaft/diff so turned around to limp home only to see bolts strewn across the road. Ahh.! Cable tie later and got home.. Diff's and VC all ok...

Mouldy is busy man and couple of months before he can weld Tyson up. So SORN'd him for the month and may try welding him up. 20 years of Bays should be enough experience to make a good job of it...

I'd say that being as the rear suspension attaches to that bracket through the sill end as well as the cross-member, they most certainly are structural.
