Why is it so important to have a Right hand drive model?

I may well be wrong, but I can't imagine it's going to be easy or cheap to convert from left to right?

Well i am going to buy a lhd. But i wanted to know the cheapest way of converting possible.

Thats what I mean, why do you need to convert it to RHD? Can you not just save yourself time/money/effort and leave it left?

Buy a LHD, drive it for a month and you'll quickly get used to it!! By the time you've saved enough to get it done, you'll be used to driving on the wrong side, and that way, you won't need to take your daily off the road for however long to get the conversion done!

Converting just doesnt make a blind bit of sense to me?!

I was quoted a couple of thousand to do it plus I had to supply the panels. Dont forget that you will have to get an engineers report on the conversion and you may have difficulty insuring a conversion like that

there was some crazy american a while ago that bought one of the very very rare rhd tristar syncros, and then converted it to lhd,

your making jugemants about something that you have not driven/experienced, and if you on a tight budget then this conveshion will cost a small fortune.

have you actually driven a t3 2wd or syncro. the only reason that i ask is one of the mums at our daughters school was getting divorced from her husband and was considering selling her car (L200 pickup) and buying a t3 liked the idea of a syncro camper. looking at the weekends away and the whole vw lifestyle etc etc etc. whole new lifestyle for her and the kids. at the time stan was selling his van (now toms, but a very nice westy syncro) and i recommended it too her and spoke to stan about it. the day that i spoke to stan i too her out in my van for here too have a drive. although she had no problem driving the van after about 10mins she realized it was not practical for her on a daily basis and what she has (the L200) is far a better for her, ie modern,reliable comfortable, econimoical, automatic, ac, pas the list goes on

Ive never driven one before.

I dont want an automatic/ac/pas.

I like to drive a vehicle that you can feel on the road. Thats why i love my mini.
Basic no frills driving.

Somthing that is hardy.that i dont mind getting scratched.

Ive driven my dads trucks.
Ford ranger
Toyota hilux
Transit van
Nissan cabstar
My mercedes 206d 1975 camper.thats was like driving a tank.
Minis
Audi tt
Motorbikes (i.dont have a lcience)

So your used to driving different vehicles, different types etc, dont waste your money doing a conversion, just get a LHD, get used to it, and be happy when it's easier driving in Europe!!!

You said you wanted to tour europe, well then a LHD is ideal!!!!!
