Original paintwork?

Post by Jonnyb416 »

I am 100% certain by van was originally green and now it is yellow.

After using the DA sander it appears there is swirls of blue in there:

My questions is, could my van have been blue at one point? Or is there another explanation? Maybe something like a top coat to highlight any highspots?

Cheers, Jon.

Maybe a primer in between the old green and the new orange

Cheers guys.

I know it was originally green as its green in all the crazy places that you wouldn't bother painting when changing colour.

I only wondered if there was another reason there was blue there; thing is I don't seem to come across ant large patches of blue, just swirls. I reckon it is some sort of primer.

It looks like a primer to me. It could well be some stuff called 'Barcoat' which is a sealer that is applied onto old paint whichs keeps reacting to the solvents in the fresh paint. Barcoat was a blue/purple colour, if memory serves correctly.
