My syncro would always start with the first turn of the key!!!! It would just fire straight away....until....every so often it would turn over and over and not fire. No pattern to it....sometimes when hot other times when cold.
The mechanic I use said it was the little plug in box in the engin bay which 'boosts' the ignition to the coil. So I changed it for a new one....now it starts totally differently...I have to turn it over and over and almost catch it on the throttle in order to start it. Is this the norm or have I missed something? Shame really as she was so good!
Might change it back to the old booster. Are there differing ones of these available?
Hope somebody can shed some light on this.

Re: Starting problem with ignition signal boost??
fuel filter, fuel pump,temp2 sensor, start signal to ecu, vacuum to disi and fuel regulator, air leaks, idle control, all of these will affect starting but a 2.1 should just start on the key as long as it's spinning quick enough
TCi unit needs a real good earth to body that seems to be what causes them to start to break down in the first place
