That's a bit of an overkill!

I really haven't "got" why blue LEDs are so popular, it's such a cold colour.

The blue LEDs may look very bright in the picture but they really are not up close and personal. If you are in the van with them on, they are not brighter than a white light and pretty close to a red light's intensitity. So there's really not "blinding".
