Hi all,
Does anyone have an English translation of the options list for an '89 Westfalia California? If possible covering the van specs & camping options.
Thanks,
Rob

Original options list for '89 Westy California
Is there any info on height/wheel options for the California's? I know the Atlantics were lower & had alloy wheel options, but do not know if this was also an option on the California.

Hiya,
Had a quick look and if you look at the brochure downloads at the end of the California and Atlantic pages you will see in the sales brochures that the height of both versions is stated as being the same.
If you look in the relevant price lists you will various tyre option but the alloys are only available in the Atlantic pricelist (Leichtmetalrader) so they were not an option for the Calfornia as far as I can see.
I am sure they will still fit though and are generally referred to as "Carat" alloys if you are looking for a set. They require longer wheel bolts to fit.
The "carat" alloys were the only official VW wheel for the Westfalia T3 as far as I know.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Original options list for '89 Westy California
Of course the vehicle is identical so Carats fit both. (different nuts/bolts)
I find it suprising that Carats weren't on the California's options list but to be honest customers could have any damn thing they wanted when buying and didn't have to necessarily stick to 'their model' list for additions.
I was there back in the 80's doing PDI's... and what the customer wanted the customer got...besides that's where alot of the profit was (in the addons) salesman cutting their margins competing with other dealerships but making some of it back selling the extras.
I've got all of the extra's I want now and those I don't have I'm really not bothered about.
Big mirrors/Big bumpers/5 piece under bumper spoiler/SA lower grille/rear light blenders/full colour coded plank set/Carat wheels inc spare/Long nosed jack/custom lenses.
I really don't want air con or dreadful crazy paved double glazing although I do like the metalic paints on the Atlantics.
