TV Antenna

Post by danreimo »

Has anyone else got a camper fitted with a Vision Plus 315 Status Digital Antenna.
Have tried to get a signal on the tele today, but had no joy as the Digital Amplifier supplied does not have a 12v power pack/supply. Does this have to be connected to the power in order for me to get a TV signal.
And if so any ideas where I get one from.

Whilst on the subject of power supplies when I plugged in a Power invertor to the cigarette/12v socket to allow me to plug electrical appliances into the van it just blew the fuse. Any adviced what I did wrong there.

Yes it does have to have power.

The usual thing to do here is to get the APPROPRIATE DC plug CAREFULLY attached to a fused piece of wire and connect this to either your leisure battery (correct way) or to the ciggy lighter socket (easy way). You do need to be VERY carefull to get the correct sized DC plug (there are lots of sizes) and MOST IMPORTANT to connect it the right way round (+ve & -ve) as getting it wrong for just one tenth of a second will blow up the signal amp !

Inverters draw far too much power for use on a ciggy socket (unless it one of those next to useless weedy little ones).
You need to connect it very firmly to the leisure battery again making SURE you get the red and black the right way around - or BANG
p.s. - are you sure you connected it to the ciggy socket the right way around ? = if you got it wrong you MAY have damaged the inverter (or the fuse might have saved it).
Anyway, a ciggy socket is not suitable for all but the smallest inverters.

Keep asking if you have further questions :ok
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here
