No fuel from new tank

Post by ryanapper »

Hello.

I recenty drained the fuel tank on my van to gain access for new heater pipes. When i re-fitted the tank and filled it back up, no fuel was coming out of the outlet, so i blew it through with a compressor but made no difference. I decided to buy a new tank, fitted it, filled it up, and still no fuel coming out. ther's at least £40's worth in there.

Do the expansion bottles have to be connected to make some sort of vacume? or any other sugestions?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

You are not trying to get fuel out of a return line by mistake are you?

Yea its deffinately conected to the outlet on the off side.

Fuel does come out of the return pipe tho, when i remove the blanking cap i put on.

Yea i have tried syphoning out out and it does come but soon stops, i wouldn't have thought i'd have to syphon it tho... .

I do have a gti engine fitted, so im running a mk2 golf pump, but even so theres still no fuel coming out of the tank.

someone posted up a picky of a tasnk cut open, if i recollect the supply pipe goes in then up before going down into the centre depression so it never runs out of its own volition ,it relies on a pump sucking
