Hi
I had a Remtec DG engine fitted last year and have had constant problems with it!
Currently getting it looked at yet again and probably having new rings fitted ..... but need to make sure that everything else is also sorted out just in case the problem was not engine related.
So i am looking for recommendations for someone who can do a good refurb/rebuild on the Pierburg carburettor, i think its a 2e with auto choke.
Any suggestions please?

Hi
does he come recommended?
I called him and he quoted me £85 + VAT but it was only a drive-in service and i'm based just N of London.
My concern was that i was told the refurb kit, when it was last available from VW, cost over £120 .... so £85 worries me a tad

I'll second Gower + Lee. They did a fairly shagged, ancient Solex single-choke for me a few years back. Excellent service, and it came back like new, for a very reasonable price.

Only thing that really wears is the throttle shaft. Send it to Roger Ball who will check it for trueness and fit phosphor bronze bushes instead of the original nylon ones then you only have fit a gasket kit - good as new.
- best to catch him around 6pm. Hes been doing them for at least 20 years. Knows his stuff. If the choke unit is faulty, you can pick up a s/h one.
