New ferry to France - stop press

Post by Ralf85 »

I did not see a message elsewhere on the forum so I thought I would flag up this news that arrived in my in box on Saturday. DFDSand LD lines are filling the gap with a new crossing on the Dover to Calais route. So there should be some price competition this year at least. Great news. Bon voyage.

That sounds good! I've used LD lines before and found them very good so let's hope they are just as good on this route :ok

The DFDS quote system retains the quote but the price can still go up ... if it's when you want/need to go then I wouldn't wait too long. I ended up having to change the times to get back to the same price as the original quote.

This is our preferred route when going to the North.
For us it's a good couple of hours shorter to Zeebugger.

Beats the hell out of driving up from Dover (time and fuel).

The holiday starts when you get on the ferry and you can get a good nights sleep.

That's what I thought when I saw the price , its a pity you have to have a cabin cos that nearly £200

I have just checked and found any crossing on DFDS both at Easter and in July/August for three adults and a camper for £78 return with the discount code. That is a bargain. Even without the discount it is £98 return. I am already booked for the Summer but I may well pop over at Easter too.

Sorry slightly at a tangent I know, but I just booked return Harwich to the hook for the end of july begining of august with Stena line for £157 through the caravan and camping club (£208 with no discount) day crossing, night ones you have to add the price of a cabin
I had a couple of cross Channel quotes and thought they where pretty expensive this year compared to last year but I suppose once LD/DFDS competition settles down so will the price.
