Re: 1.7 ky diesel engine
Have done just over 70 mph. Just to see. Didn't like it! 55- 60 is the sweet spot.

Re: 1.7 ky diesel engine
Quick question for all you fellow 1.7(KY) engine dudes - do you happen to know what size fan belt I need? I have had a look at the one fitted however it is so old all the markings have come off. I have the Bosch 65A alternator - but so many different sizes out there any help would be appreciated

Re: 1.7 ky diesel engine
Had my van with its KY engine for nearly 4 years now, goes nowhere fast but is economical and so far very reliable(touch wood) Usually get between 35 and 40 mpg on a run which is pretty good with a hightop i reckon, also its running a 5 speed gearbox and to be honest its still fairly slow up hills but not too noisy at about 55/60 mph. Got to say i was not even looking for a diesel when i bought it, just turned out that way and on reflection i count myself lucky i ended up with it. slow but steady (touch wood again)...................

I am looking at changing mine to a 5 speed box and looking to see which one would be more suitable to the ky engine. Thanks...Garethmacccityrocker wrote:Had my van with its KY engine for nearly 4 years now, goes nowhere fast but is economical and so far very reliable(touch wood) Usually get between 35 and 40 mpg on a run which is pretty good with a hightop i reckon, also its running a 5 speed gearbox and to be honest its still fairly slow up hills but not too noisy at about 55/60 mph. Yes I can quite imagine that gear change can be quite tricky at times...I believe the code can be found under the gearbox on the side, on the passenger side of the box...but of not I believe there is a link on hear Some were which has a picture of exact location, if you search for gearbox code in search bar....thank you very much for that steve..macccityrocker wrote:Hi, no idea where to find the code for the gearbox but if you can let ne know i will have a look for you at the weekend, have got to say though with it being a dog leg the change from 1st to 2nd can be interesting at times.
