lost ignition key!

hi , Ive lost my ignition key for my T25 1982. Does anyone know were and indeed if i can get a new key. There is a number on the ignition barrel ? I have found info about replacing the entire part if neccessary . Thanks

if the number on the barrel is a 4 digit one usually starting with an 8 you can get a replacement cut at a friendly VW dealer who still has the code book - Warrington VW will do it, ask to speak to Dave the parts manager

I got a new boot lock key cut from code from here a few months back:
