Caravan Electric Hook Up Female Coupler - Will it fit this?

Post by Mickyfin »

I asked this question in someone else's thread, so no doubt may get over looked. My question is, my Syncro has an engine block heater, and internal 240v socket installed, and I wondered if the standard caravan electric female coupler hook up would fit my external socket, which is male.

Here's my original question :D

Can anyone with one of these power sockets on the exterior of their T25 confirm that a standard caravan female couple will plug in to it? Reason I ask as I would like to make a longer lead you see, but here the cost of these Defa plugs is shocking, and if a female caravan couple will fit, job's a goodun.

Male plug on my Syncro.. (Not visible is the notch near the large round pin).

Thanks :ok

Unless you're really keen on keeping your van original, why not change the coupler on the van to a male one to fit the blue one you have pictured. That way it's a guaranteed fit, and they're not expensive
:ok

Thats an idea I guess, but would like to keep the Defa fitment really, I was just curious if this would actually work. Here in Finland Defa, and Calix I think it is are very strict on the patent of these kind of connectors, so much so, unless hidden, Police would stop me if they spotted a non Defa/Calix connector fitted.

Hide it behind the top up flap? :lol: Lots of people have done this, you could just by pass the wiring....

If you're stuck and can't get them where you are, I'll happily post one of the blue ones to you (got a couple spare) and you can have a go :ok

Thats very kind of you. I have found new ones on ebay for £2.99 plus postage, but hate ebay lol

How much would you want for one posted to Kuopio, Finland my friend?

I don't know what the postage would be, I'll try and find out, never sent anything to Finland before, but I don't think it would be much.

PM me your address and leave it with me, I'll sort it out later tomorrow, when I can get into town to the Post Office. Ebay might be cheaper though if they sell in bulk & have a deal with the carriers, but I don't want anything for the plug itself, call it a late Christmas present :lol:

Would I be correct in saying that the wiring is the same as that of a 3 pin UK Home wall plug as shown below.?

It's ok folk's, managed to find the correct lead locally..

http://www.puuilo.fi/cat/product_details.php?p=3546" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However, I plan on swapping out the old type larger plug, and fitting the mini newer plug, and hiding it behind the numberplate, then I can flush the rear end then when the weather is better, getting rid of the small hole thats currently holding the rusty bracket :ok
