off road tyres

Post by davidc1 »

hi im sure this will have been asked and answered several times before but after looking through the tyres section in the wiki and searching archives i cant really find what im looking for..?
im just after a list if possible of any different tyre sizes (and decent/cheap suppliers?) of off road tyres that people run for my 14'' syncro on mercedes 15'' alloys, not sure of the offset just yet but am prepared to space them as nessasary. bit of a noob with tyres so need to get it right first time if i can.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

After a lot of reading, I went with 195 R15 on mine and been pretty pleased. A little bit of extra height but n0t too heavy to steer and narrow enough for snow/slush and as much mud as I'm likely to hit.

Tyres are Marshall Powerguard AT, now sold as Road Venture- same as Kumho KL78 and about £70 a corner when we bought a set for the Freelander last month (on the strength 0f being happy with them on the Syncro)

OK, not full on "off road" tyres but thy're good all rounders and great value for the money
What a long strange trip it's been

Go for an AT 215/75/15. Most seem to use the BFG but it depends what you useage pattern is going to be.

Had Wranglers on my old Disco to start with, but they wore quickly on that. Maxxis also a very good "budget" tyre with long road life
