Mileage Counter

Post by Fluffenzepupple »

This is probably a really stupid question, but please humour me...

How far does a T25 mileage counter go before it re-sets? I've heard people talk about a vehicle being 'twice around the clock' which I assume means it gets so high and starts back again, and my van shows about 99k which definitely isnt accurate, but what figure does it reach before it goes back to the start? Is it 200k?

Cheers!

It depends on how many digits your "clock" has got....

999999 + 1 more will roll over to 000000 if you only have 6 numeric spinners. Hope that makes sense :D
What a long strange trip it's been

Mine is a 1986 van, and has only a 5 digit display for the mileage, so when it got to 100,000 the display only showed 00,000.

So it is currently showing 32,000....but has really done 132,000.....it just can't display the "1" at the beginning.

I think newer vans may have 6 digit displays, and I'm sure someone will put me right if I am wrong.

Might be different with kph. Mines a 1989 with 6 digits. It's done 144,347 for the past year. Took it apart and then pushed and glued the green cog back to where it goes. It will now show that it's actually moved for the MOT in 2 weeks.

Ahhh ok makes sense thanks all, so i just double checked mine and its 6 digits but the last one is red indicating its the point x of a mile, so with it showing 95668 then i can only assume its 195,668.

But how do you know how many times its been round, it could be 295,668 for all i know? Or is it just a case of tallying up with the paperwork? I'm just trying to work out how many miles my engine has lasted for before crapping out, the history shows it had a reconditioned volkspares engine put in in 2002 when it had roughly 155k on the clock (i know i know, it was a previous owner who did it :run ), so its lasted a mere 40k-ish miles :?

I did a HPI check on mine and the recorded mileage added up to it having been round the clock once......I hope

Mine rolled off the production line in July 1990. Six digits. No 'red' digit for fractions of a mile although there is on the trip meter.

I think there's always six digits on the odometer, but you either get:

a) 100,000 mile odo counting down to tenths of a mile/km and no separate trip counter.

b) 1,000,000 mile odo only counting in whole miles/kms and a separate 1,000 mile resettable trip counter counting down to tenths.

My parents 1989 Caravelle had a million mile odo and resettable trip counter. Our '89 Doka only has a 100k one, but I know it's not the original clocks, so doesn't prove anything. I'm tempted to stick the Caravelle clocks on it just to have the trip counter, since the odo is just a way of keeping track of oil changes.

Has anyone managed to get a million mile odo round the clock?
