Try this.....

Doesnt sound like the seller knows too much about the '4wd system' or body mods and wheel upgrades?!?

My favourite...

I will probably be looking for a long time more to get one in good nick for the money i have to spend.

£5995 will buy you this (though its not officially up for sale yet) It has power steering, brand new fully rebuilt gearbox with under 10 miles on it and under warranty for 12 months, very solid and jammed packed full of VW goodies. Not the usual bashed in rusty doka full of filler...

Your only alternative Copper if you want to get a cheap Syncro is to look outside of the UK. I picked mine up for €1350 Euros, which Im told was a bloody good deal considering its straight condition, apart from one arch which had been cut off.

So far I have spent the same again on it getting it mechanically A1. Luckily I used to specialize in 4x4 systems when I lived in the UK, so being familiar with these has helped me keep the costs down, doing all of the mechanical work myself. I'm currently learning to weld now too as I want to be able to sort out the bodywork on my own. The rear arch that i fixed cost me €250 iirc. One place quoted me almost a grand.

If you do opt to buy a Syncro from overseas, for example here in Finland, I do offer a service to bring a vehicle to the UK. Obviously you have to also account for these additional costs such as fuel, insurance, ferries, and my flight back etc. Adding all these up, even if you were to say find a Syncro here for €1500, the costs on bringing it to you, plus my fe's may, or may not be viable, its all down to how desperate you want a Syncro I guess my friend.
