Ok so i have my heart set on a syncro. Are they always in 4wd?
I have been looking for a few years for one but havent had the funds until now.
Can i get a diesel t25 or t3 panel van syncro for approx £4000 doesnt have to have furnature inside just need to be in working order and basically NO rust. ? Or am i just dreaming?
Also im 6"1 and have an inside leg of 36 so im a tall girl. But will i fit in the t25 driver space and have leg room. Bearing in mind i have never even sat in one before.? And if you see me sit in my classic mini i do look like im in a clown car!

if you`re going from a mini to a syncro you`ll never go back. lol
you`ll fit no probs. they are permanant 4wd unless fitted with decoupler. £4k wont by you a rust free van unless very lucky, it may get you a rolling project.
Cheers. Pain in the bum that they are so much money. Since selling a camper project i couldnt finish i really dont want another project. Why are the syncros so much more than the reg t25s?
yes it has and can be done. but really you would need a complete syncro for all the parts to do it properly. not a cheap option. vw vans in general are over priced. you are paying for the lifestyle not the van, as they are much more than just a van. the shows. the people, and with the syncro the go anywhere ability.
if you think you can buy a cheap syncro and just use it you`ll be in for a shock. they are fantastic vehicles but they are old and the cheap ones need work and that work is not cheap to do. you can buy a really good syncro thats been looked after by one of the syncronauts and it will be reliable and cheap to maintain but it`ll cost. its easy to sink £15k+ in to these vans as maney will tell you.
some say by as cheap as you can and get all the work done yourself so you know its been done right
some say get an overdraft and get the best van you can find.
I can do the work myself but i would prefere not to have a project. Im going to sell my main car to buy one. So i need it to be a good runner. I will have a look see if anyone is selling any on here.
Ive just had a look but not in price range. Or too far away.
I will probably be looking for a long time more to get one in good nick for the money i have to spend.
How much you recon it will cost me if i convert a reg t25 to syncro? I would do the conversion myself.
Mmm cost of a conversion equals cost of Syncro breaker plus what ever stuff you need to replace when I did tinkerbelle it included complete set of poly bushes for the front, ball joints, brake pads brake discs, new clutch grinding discs and wire brushes, lots of cans of penetrant oil/wd40 etch primer and topcoat/hammerite gearbox oil, the ability to weld and fabricate metal and a place to do it all I was lucky had some spares and didn't need a new VC. Off the top of my head Would say if your very very lucky a breaker would set you back approx 1500 but prices have gone up, parts from Baxter around 5-600 maybe more if you find problems maybe more, a new VC think about 600 or more new tank straps 100 plus a hundred or two on consumables paint oil etc so plus cost of towing/trailering said breaker. Gould easily mount to 3k or more and that's doing it yourself but it's an education and leaves you with a completely overhauled van which should be as good as any Syncro which you would probably have to do (unless it's all been done which would factor in the price) if you buy a Syncro hope that's of help More info on the Tinkerbelle thread Paul

I think you should read Pauls post again. £1500 is the minimum you could expect to get a Syncro to break but expect to pay £2000. If you can actually drive this breaker then you might get an idea of the condition of the gearbox/front diff/prop/VC/CV joints/wheel bearings and other bits and pieces. If you dont get to drive it you can safely assume that all of those parts are knackered so they will need to be refurbished and that little lot will cost you the guts of £3000 to get done. So now we are up to £5000 and we havent started yet ...... do you get the picture yet?
The other thing is if you want to convert a T25 to a Syncro you really need to know and understand exactly what a Syncro is and how it fits together.
