I think the 16" syncros have longer travel suspension as the trailing arms are longer. VW probably extrapolated the wheel travel and made the shafts longer to match. Just a thought!

from whats been posted.. 16" shafts are shorter...
swing arm may be slightly longer... but IIRC the shock mount is actually lower than the center line of the swing arm so actually gives less travel at full extension.. (16" shocks are same length as 14" just different damping rates..) the reason they have bigger diameter CV's is for load.. they'll take more torque...

Yep it's the fronts that are longer. Confusing.

Ah yeah...
But 16" still dont have any more travel at the front do they??

Glad I have a 14"..... at least it should be simpler... in theory..
