Hello everyone
I've been lurking on this forum for a while and I've decided to take the plunge and buy a syncro camper. I basically need a 4x4 vehicle to access my mother in law's ridiculously remote dwelling as each winter there is trouble with snow and I hate getting stuck there. It's not so bad if we can't get there you understand but being stuck there. Shudder.
I also like festival camping and the wet steep fields look like they'd be better tackled in something with 4 wheel drive. I've always slept under canvas (nylon) so far so I'm looking forward to having a few more home comforts.
I'm checking the Internet daily looking for vans and it is very hard to find one. I have my eyes open thanks largely to this forum. I realise that it will need time and expense but it is really encouraging to see such a healthy amount of cooperation between fellow enthusiasts and I hope I can tap into some of that help myself.

Re: Newbie buying a syncro
£6k should get you in to a reasonable syncro but tidy syncro campers may stretch the budget. lot of syncro campers are custom / home made vans. westfalias, riemos and the like are all nice but you`re likely to want to tweek and tune the insides to suit your particular needs. this is more the case with syncros than 2wd`s somehow. ????
may be an option to think about and build a camper yourself from a better condition start van.
2 berth / 4 berth, full width / 3/4 bed rhd / lhd. loads to think about.
keep us posted.
