CENTRE CAPS

Post by filbay »

Hi, After doing a bit of forum research I recently bought 4 Merc alloys for my camper. I have refurbished them and got some new tyres on today . I realised that centre caps wouldn,t fit on the front without adapting the grease caps which I have planned. However on offering them up to the rear drums ( after removing the 2 small bolts ) I now discover that the centre caps won,t fit on the back either due to the big castellated hub nut protruding by about 10 mm. !!! The wheels look really good on the bus but the overall look is spoiled by this. Does anyone know a way around this problem ? Can I buy some concave type caps somewhere ? Any advice would be really appreciated. I suppose I could fit 10mm. spacers but that would mean buying longer studs etc. Any else had this problem ?

What merc rims are they?

10mm spacers all around and you will need longer studs in the rear and poss longer stud conversion or bolts in the front anyway to fit these.

Not sure what model they came from but they do go straight on existing setup, which is why I bought them. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and fit longer studs/ spacers etc. if I want to fit my nice new centre caps ! Thanks for your interest ........

What is the ET of the wheels? Spacers are also required to bring the ET within useable tolerances

There was something in the Wiki about this but the link is broken.

Do a search for Merc ML wheels on here, I know KevtheRev wrote something about this because I used it for my ML wheels.
