Going to France and Spain what do I need (legal)
What do I need to have to comply with French and Spanish road laws? eg, bulbs, headlight beam benders, etc etc

Re: Going to France and Spain what do I need (legal)
went last year and did/took the following
Beam deflectors
fire extiquisher
Adaquate insurance cover for Euro travel (take a copy with you along with your driving liscense)
Euro breakdown cover (not essential but sensible)
Hi Viz jackets for everyone travelling in your vehicle, that must be accessible from within the vehicle, as you MUST put one on BEFORE you get out on a auto route-toll road should you break down.
Spare bulb kit (except for xenon bulbs, but if required you "must be able to prove that you have the means to pay" for xenon replacement)
Warning triangle
GB sticker (unless you dont have the euro-flag with UK on your numberplate)
Not essential but I found that a windscreen sticker call 'Drive Right' was helpful. its a small sticker that shows you what side you should drive on, and remember to go round oppersite way at roundabouts..Coz its easy to forget when you go out early morning with nothing else on the roads..
Hope this helps.

Re: Going to France and Spain what do I need (legal)
You cant buy UK gas fill ups too so best cater for that unless you have a Westfalia tank or similar
Hook up plug in things might be different from the UK but I dont really know as we never use them. There isn't many LPG places in Spain so you best fill up if you require that sort of thing before you hit Spain, but if your van runs on diesel we found it much cheaper in Spain than France and there is loads of it.
I know the info I gave isn't legal requirements but you might find it handy if you have never driven there. Where in Spain are you heading to Cruz?

The link posted was a great help Ian.
Jed, We (us and Kathyshack in her T5) will be mostly stopping in France on our way to a wedding in Mollerusa which is about 60k west of Barcelona.
We have 5 days to get there from Calais and 7 days to get back to Calais

.hiya...yup in Spain you need x 2 warning triangles....(if you breakdown do not put them up when on the motorway)...hi-vis vest for each member in van....must be able to get them and put them on before getting out... bulbs/first aid kit/fire extinguiser/if you wear glasses to drive...you need to have a spare pair also......and dont get caught with a speed detector in your van...keep all you documents with you...driving licence/insurance/mot/passport/...prob more but i can think at mo....

As said above....you can get an adaptor for hook ups, some are same as UK, some different. Camp sites in France that were different usually had one you can borrow tho

Just re-read the thread above mine, why not put triangles up if you break down on the motorway? We do down here (Almeria) esp as the hard shoulder is so narrow.

How does the spare bulb issue work if you have LED lights units or LED bulbs fitted? Do you need to carry spares of them also?

Just don't be caught with a light out, they can ... if they are bored, particularly arsey or just been beaten by England at something
