Look i know this has been talked about on here many times before but ive look at all the threads and am still no the wiser.
I have a 1.9 diesel engine (non turbo ) in my bus and i just want to bloody well find out what it is.
If theres a list out there i would love to see it.
Ive googled every code i have but no joy i think my lump is a 1y but it doesnt say so
On the head i have 028 103 374 and on the crank case i have 028 103 021 BE.
Under side just says 1.9D thats it.
Its driving me nuts not knowing.
Anyone ?
A pic would help ? I think with a diesel the pump part no. should be a fairly reliable way of identifying the engine. Of course in the whacky world of the T25, a lot of swapped engines are bitsa this and bitsa that...

Sorry being a bit dozy before, I take you've tried to read the actual engine serial number off the block, but its too rusty to read ? They all start with the three-letter engine code. It should be on a flat machined bit just above and to the left of the oil flange.

that's a pump for the CS/KY I think, so I imagine it was transplanted onto the new block. The casting numbers aren't a massive amount of help for referencing as you've found - the main thing to consider then is whether it has oil cooling jets for the pistons - you'd be able to tell if you took the sump off. One thing I can't see on your pictures, unless I'm being thick, is a dipstick - I think you have to move the dipstick for the ABL and 1X engines, but the casting number seems a bit more compatible with an AAZ engine.
Is it just for curiosity you want to know the engine code, or is there something specific you need to know?

Ewen
the dip stick is at the back on the left blank off the new one is in the oil filler pipe behind the reg plate.
If i know what its out of i can work out a rough age.
I'm not sure but I think that if the original dipstick is blanked off because it's on the wrong side that narrows it down - I'm sure other folk will know, but I know that some 1y engines had the dipstick hole on the wrong side, so I'd say that's a possibility. Hope you figure out what you need to know
