I assume so

The wiring should already be in place, are you expecting them to do the right thing - they only come on with dipped main beam and should go off on high beam. The 2 position switch; depends how it's set. Mine does front only with 1 click & fronts & rears with 2 clicks. Could just be earthing to the lamps or a fuse? At risk of sounding daft "are you sure they're fogs & not driving lamps"? Legally the wiring & operation is different.

Re: Fog lights
Andy is right.
If the switching is right then..
The earthing is important.
Yes Andy, they are auxiliary driving lamps I would think

Re: Fog lights
If in lower grille then you're probably right about them being fogs - either Sa or Prozect 2 pods. That said they could have been (obviously have) been wired up wrongly. Have you got a 2 position fog light switch; I think some earlier ones were single on/off ones but I might well be wrong about that...
Sadly you couldn't be much further away from me.... Although I have a lot of family in Cornwall,
none of them know Jack about VW electrics Photos of the lenses/ markings would help identify exactly what you have and we can hopefully advise further about how to make them work

Rear O/S fog lamp together with a tell tail indicator in the rear foglamp switch will have been added/modified for a UK MOT. (usually done on import) fronts aren't an MOT requirement but as others have said are likely aftermarket additions Project zero's/SA's.
I think....but don't quote me on this, they have to work if fitted? (for MOT).

Re: Fog lights
Okay thanks
The lights are hella
The rear fogs are in the rear cluster
There is a two position switch vag in the dash first position I assume for the fronts and the second that has a tell tale lamp in the switch that operate the rears (working)
I have put a relay in position 4 as it was missing
But still no luck

Re: Fog lights
Have you checked, as advised, to see if they work when dipped beam is on? I was pulled up on a MoT years ago when the car I took in was wired otherwise.

Re: Fog lights
Pretty sure front fog relay is position 7 on main board.
Have you checked the basics - bulbs good, fuses good, switch good, power to switch......
Also please tell me what sort of lights they are - it will be on the lens as a code.

Re: Fog lights
On my relay list I have position 7 for the fog light relay and it should be part number: 141 951 253 B for the relay. It's a multi purpose relay that also works for the twin tone horn and electric fan.
Hope that helps.
