Central Locking Sliding Door Wiring

Post by MidLifeCrisis »

Anyone got a fancy way of getting the wiring from the dashboard area to the sliding door area?
I think the only sensible way is up the passenger door frame pillar and then down again on the other side - but I can't see an 'easy' way of doing this??

Anyone tried this and found an easy way of getting a couple of wires back there?

My Syncro has retro fitted Central locking, and its wiring is as you described. The solenoid is then placed in the sliding door itself, and makes contact via the contact strip connectors when closed.

You need something stiff but flexible (if that makes sense) and a lot of patience. Go fishing......

Thanks all;

Looks like I'll be 'fishing' with some wire in the New Year!!

Also, thanks for pics of the contact plate thingy - I've only managed to find a more basic version on eBay (that looks like it might work but doesn't look great quality) - anyone got any info on sourcing the original (at a reasonable-ish price??).

Cheers again for the info/replies chaps.

There's normally some on German ebay but, alas, none at the moment.

Thanks - still having fun with the 'fishing' exercise trying to get the wires around the door frame - failed with stiff garden wire, gotta think of some other way of coaxing a wire around the frame from the dash area to the door pillar.

A possible alternative to the ff electrical connector is the ones fitted to a Ford Ka rear hatch. They look very similar and a lot easier to get hold of.
