Suggested route to black forest?

Post by The Bishop »

We're off to the black forest in the summer. Probably Harwich to Hook of Holland. Anyone got any recommendations on routes or camp sites on the way there? Was thinking perhaps Amsterdam and Luxenburg?

Thanks,

That's the way I'd go, don't forget when you phone me to order a touring kit for your LPG, enjoy the adventure :D

WHS ^^^ - but it's worth spending a couple of nights at Metz. There is an aire (just outside the municipal site) but we booked on to the site itself as we were going to be there a couple of nights. Metz is a beautiful city and well worth exploring. Would recommend you book the site though rather than just turn up - there was a very stroppy French woman who pushed in front of us and then started screaming and yelling because the site was full. She was well miffed when we got to the desk and just presented our booking form! Oh and by the way - I'll join you in the Ganters!

I did Amsterdam to koblenz - and then a fantastic drive down the Rhine. Pick a lovely site/aire on the river before the final leg down to the forest.
Ganter. Hmmmmmmm.

This shows the drive down to The Black Forest before we ventured much further onward. It might be useful to you and I could send you the coordinates of the Aire in the forest, it was only 6 euro a night with hook up
