Shiraz and others...we have to start thinking about this one soon...ie: booking the event, booking ferries, organising the route, organising the dates and where we intend to be and on what days so people don't loose eachother.
Baring in mind this has to be flexible so people can do their own thing but organised so we know what we are doing. I know people want to join at certain points in the journey like yourself Sharaz, so some thought needs to go into it.

:ok this is going to be brilliant.....

Chill out Mart. Go with the flow man. 8-)

There's no way I can plan that far ahead but I hope to be there.

Am now awaiting confirmation from work if I can be allowed the date.(but may find a new job by then :x )Agree the logistics are a big thing on this one if group travel is an idea but perhaps a gathering could be arranged so could be discussed around a cosy campfire.

Deffo on for this.
Organising sounds like a mare, but happy to meet up and discuss.

Just a heads up.

From Dunkirk to Jüterbog (where the fest is) is approx' 900 kms or 550 miles.
You can do it in one, I wouldn't recommend it as it is mind numbingly boring ( I do it in one and it drives the wife mad).

My recommendation for those with little or no experience of long hauls - break it into three parts.

Something like:

1st day - Dunkirk to Venlo - a gentle lead in, stopping overnight with the Käsekopfen (Holland). I wouldn't aim for Germany on the first night. You have to drive a long way until you are clear of the industrial heartland of Germany - not very appealing.

2nd day - Early start and off to Wolfsburg. Visit the VW museum.

3rd day - Wolfsburg to Jüterbog - a very gentle 250 kms.

That's just a suggestion, my main tip is stop at the German/Nederland border and not to stop in Germany until you are clear of Dortmund.

Not really, I've never stopped on this route.
As it's only 750km I do it in one.

There is a campsite just off the autobahn A2 at Bad Oeynhausen - http://www.borlefzen.de/

Also, there are two Stellplätze in Bad Oeynhausen.

Translation:

Where: the corner of Südbahnstrasse & Detmolder Strasse. 3 spaces
Directions - From the A2 autobahn head to Bad Oeyhausen centre (zentrum), then south on Detmolder Str. and is behind the gates on the left.

Ort: Kanalstraße, 4 Stellplätze

Four places on Kanalstrasse.

Stellplatz ohne Ver- und Entsorgung, der Aufenthalt ist auf 2 Tage begrenzt.
