merc alloys
Hi people, Ive just bought these 15" merc alloys from a mate and they are the first new shoes Ive bought for my van. Ive got to refurb them slightly around the rims then will be ready to fit. Could anybody tell me a) if I will need spacers/longer studs etc and b) what tyres you would recommend for these?
Cheers, Mark

Re: merc alloys
Tell us the ET and we'll tell you the info
it's written on the rim
are they tapered or radiused wheel nuts?
you will need longer studs as alloys are thicker at the stud hole
see the tyre calculator in the wiki or in the information section on brickwerks
Tyres must have a load rating of no less than 95.

Re: merc alloys
You might just get away with 25
no spacers required as they will stick out under the wheel arch, be careful if it's lowered
nuts will have to be changed to suit your rims then
what did the rims come off originally?
remember you van weighs two tonnes..

Re: merc alloys
Thats a good point actually Kev and I dont honestly know. I bought them off a fellow club member who bought them for his van but changed his mind about fitting. I have load bearing tyres though. Thanks for your advice re the spacers, I havent actually got as far as to offer them up to the van yet due to servicing, exhaust replacing, headlight upgrade etc etc

I think most Benz motors are heavy.. but at 15" I would want to know if my weight exceeded their designed carrying weight
just thought that you might want to know that your safe

Re: merc alloys
Hi dude I used to belong to the hazard VW club but it all got a bit political so I dropped out. I still go to all the shows as we have had loads of busses and polo's and love to get inspiration from others but would be interested in hooking up with a local club again. I know a couple of the 80-90 people have been meeting up at Bybrook barn so I reckon I will go over there next time. Kentish VW club meet up at mote park? That's a cool place to meet so I'll def come over in the summer,
James
