Surf Boards ????

Post by Dylan »

I have a side elevated pop top and would like to store surf boards on the outside of the van rather than inside as they take up a seat!!

Any suggestions?

My roof also has a fitted roof rack to the rear.

How big is the board(s)? My mate used his bike rack and fixed his board in the bag vertically to the rack - travelled through france with it no problems. Obviously if your board is a minimal or long board, or big guy short board you WILL need a roof rack....or put it in with the passengers in the back! This is the blessing of a hightop for most boards (my boards live in THE van).

As the other post, a soft rack would suit...and means that you don't have to fit anything through the roof structure. It would probably be fairly easy to manufacture one from webbing strap, buckles and (old style car) gutter hooks.
It's only money....
