HELP !!! Split Carb mount DF engine

Post by andyspanners.21 »

Hi There folks
Please can anyone help.....My van has the DF engine...Yes the weedy one with a single barrell solex carb. The rubber mount between Carb and manifold has split terminaly and guess what.....no one makes one or has NOS I have tried all the usual suspects Vw heritage, Just Kampers etc. I feel second hand ones may be as rare as hens teath or split like mine. Though my van will run (kind of on LPG) it will no longer run on petrol. So if anyone has any ideas I would be very greatful.

Yes indeed....Unfortunatly 'Dotty' is my only transport right now! Which realy dose'nt help. I was wondering about using the old mounting to have an Alluminium one machined......Is the rubber realy nesecery? I only ever run on liquid gold when I run out of gas. At the moment things are being held together with silicone which splits as soon as I put the air filter on due to the rough idle. Hummm.
Does anyone know of a machine shop in my area where they can manufacture aluminium parts with a fairly rapid turn round. I live in north Suffolk

I would use a thick Nylon 12 or Nylon 66, polypropylene, polyethylene.
I would imagine there's a lot of donors out there.
plus you can fashion it yourself.

Then use Hylomar Blue gasket sealant
