drive shaft noise

Post by pugpower »

Hi There

Can anyone help me with the following:-

My van has started to make a knocking noise on acceleration and going round a left hand turn. I assume this is a cv/drive shaft problem. How can I tell which side it is by inspection as I do not want to replace both shafts. If you think you can help I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanking you in advance

Wayne

Not always easy to pinpoint. However, by crawling underneath and grabbing hold of the shafts in turn, you'll probably find that one of them is more rattly than the other. It could just be dry of grease. Often a repack will give you many more miles. Also don't be tempted by budget ebay replacements or you'll be doing the job again before you know it.

hi wayne. as the previous guy said and also check the bolts that go through the c/v joints.
if these have not been driven home with a air gun then they can work loose and rattle, then come off.
check behind wheel in the box.
good luck
