hi all
I've just tried looking through the archive section but can't seem to find anything specific on the right place to try and lubricate my choke cable . I've a 1.9td and its very stiff to pull out and want to get it sorted before the plastic surround at the dash might crack or break off . I've tried squirting from the dash end with a small straw like thing on wd but still not free enough . is there a correct way and place of getting some lubrication into the inner and outer sheave housing ?

You may find it easier to pull as the engine is turning over - some people say that it helps. That said, I have never needed to use mine all the time that I have had my bus and it starts within a first revolution.

Hello,
if you've got a td, that's a timing advance for the injection pump, not a choke. As the 1.9td is non-standard, have you verified it's actually connected to the timing advance, and can you move that from the engine? If it's all connected up I'd check under the van and follow the cable to check it's not be squashed by something. It's route goes from where you're trying to pull to behind the centre console lower section and through a rubber gromet then out to the back somehow which is easy to follow.
