2.1 lead subsitute?

hi,I recently bought a 2.1 89,the owner gave me some lead subsitute,he had been using every time he filled up?ive always thought this was unnesasary,im a wrong?or do you need it?thanks

shouldn't need it. I used to put it in my old camper because I didn't know if they ran on unleaded or not back then :roll:

Doesn't need it....what engine letters do you have? I only ask because the higher compression DJ was designed to run on 98 Ron petrol whilst others; (MV/SS are 95 Ron)
Having said this, quite a few on here who have 2.1 DJ's run 95 Ron but with the ignition timing retarded to compensate.

hi,Its a DJ,ive been running it on 98,il check the timming.Ive been reading past threads on the timming,so il check it out.Thanks
