How tight should my nuts be???

Post by keith2874 »

Greetings all, and a Merry Christmas to boot!

I've had the tyres on my van replaced today - it's an LLE multivan sporting 16'' porsche style alloys. The guy who refitted them torqued the bolts up to 140nm but said normally with steel wheels they should be tightened up to 160nm

He has told me to keep an eye on them in case they get loose! Can anyone tell me whether this is the right tightness for an alloy, or should I get my wrench out?!

Any advice much appreciated :ok

Well original alloy Carat wheels are 180NM.....this is because T3's use a larger thread than your average car.
Porche rims on adapters??

No, they're not on adaptors - they're German wheels which have the correct offset for the van. They look like cup 2 porsche wheels.

In that case VW's torque setting of 180NM should apply.
