it works on camping gaz bottles, but with the family we do a fair bit of cooking and one bottle will last for about 4 - 5 days. All energy prices are going through the roof Diesel near me is 8 - 10p more expensive than petrol.

They come up on Ebay sometimes, rarely though. You could use a combined timer/temperature controller which seem to be available more often. You can also use a Modulator Control like this. German Ebay is good for Eberspacher and Webasto spares.

The rotary switch is around £60 new.

Mine is the same side as the sliding door. Rather have it the side where there is no window open for long periods for cooking. If you need to have the heater going you are not going to be leaving the door open anyway. The exhaust comes out abaft the door opening if it is run transversely from under the rear seat.

You don't really need pictures! It depends upon where you are going to mount it also. Just follow the instructions in the manual - ensure that you are clear of obstructions underneath if you are mounting it internally on the floor. Use a mounting plate if you have corrugations to fill. ( Available on Ebay ). The exhaust is usually routed underneath as the heater is usually mounted on the floor, but it is up to you where you mount it. It is recommended that exhaust lines are not routed through passenger spaces.

I can happily say that the Eberspacher is now fitted and fully functional - i ended up getting the guys at Gasure in Chester to fit it for me - i just didn't feel confident enough to do it myself.

I can't rate the Steve and John at Gasure enough - really good top class service and friendly to boot!

Easter here we come!!!

Hi Choppski, just to confirm, is the one you bought a petrol one or a gas one ?

Also, how noisy is it in operation, (imagine it is 4 a.m. at a VW show, would it be heard by adjacent vans?)

I ask as I am deciding whether to go for Eber or Propex too ;) (I have to say Propex is winning with me at present on grounds of cost and ease of installation).
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

well i have been having a good play around with it today and - crikey it's very warm with a very powerful fan. As for noise - yes there is some. If the neighbours had their windows open - yes they would hear it.

As for being inside you can hear the fan, but i do not think it is too obtrusive. I chose a eberspacher for the convenience of not carrying extra gas bottles around and -supposedly- and easy access to fuel at petrol stations. I do have a gas cooker - but if using a gas bottle for heating too then you'd have to start carrying more bottles and the hassle on holiday of trying to find a place that sells/ refills them.

BTW there is very little petrol smell, which was a concern from my wife. i must say i am very happy.
