Post by hulky »

Advice please

I have recently had my injectors replaced.and everything was fine for a couple of weeks but now it wont start after sitting for 2 weeks battery is fine and it turns over but wont fire up.there is no smoke at all coming from exhaust when turning over.

the question is should i blead the fuel sytem and if so do i loosen injector pipes and turn over to blead ?

thanks

Check that the return lines are okay (the black cotton covered rubber pipes).
Can you see fuel in the feed line?

Is the van level?

If you can not see fuel the return pipes could be leaking and the fuel will have run back to the tank.
With a good battery you can bring it back to the pump.

When it's running do as you said, slacken off the injector lines one at a time.

:ok

my return lines are ok no leaks
I can see fuel in feed line with small air bubble wich i can see move towards the pump when you turn van over
I can see fuel in the return line also
battery has been fully charged and is good
I have allready slackend off injector lines on all 4 injectors and turned over to see if fuel was getting through and it was on all 4 injectors.
I ran out of fuel in the summer and after refueling it started up on the second try.
How much fuel should i blead
could it be something to do with electrics to glow plugs :?:

Thanks again
John

It sounds more like glow plugs or something electrical.
Is it firing or trying to fire?

If you get fuel at the injectors that should be enough for it to run.

Are you sure that you have fuel and not water at the injectors?
These things usually fire on a sniff of diesel.

It's not normal.

Check the fuel cut off on the back of the pump.
It needs +12v when the ignition is on.
Check the glow plug fuse (it's a metal strip affair that lives in the black box on the bulk head).

If you get someone to turn the ignition on and off.
You should be able to hear or feel the fuel cut off working.

:ok

By the way this is the first time i have used a multimeter
I tested continuity in strip fuse OK then from fuse to glow plugs OK
So i set meter to DC 25 red lead to glow plug lead- black to earth then turned ignition on needle went half way up dial ? then as glow plug relay switched off needle dropped.then i did the same to fuel cut off and needle went half way asswell. So electrics must be OK i assume :?: :?:
dont know were to go from here :?: :(

I'm stumped.
You've got fuel.
You've got power.

Has the timing belt been changed or other such work been done?
