Don't even know where to begin, there are just so many fantastic places to camp in Scotland. Most of our camping has been wild. Would highly recommend a visit to Plockton/Lochcarron/Applecross area, lots of places to park up with views to take your breath away and endless walks. Top ledge of scotland from Fraserburgh to Inverness is another, New Aberdour Beach and Sunnyside Beach are both wild camping places. Fife is great too, we visited St.Andrews, stayed on site at Craill, Anstruther and Pittenweem are all easily reached along the fife coastal path. The Red Squirrel site at Glencoe is very popular, mountain views are spectacular, and if you are in that area Glen Orchy is worth a visit, numerous wild spots by the river.
I think I should get a job on the Scottish Tourist Board because I love it all so much. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

dont wait for your boat to come in, get in a dingy and row out to it!!!
New Aberdour Beach is on the top ledge, west of fraserburgh. We were just travelling along the coastal road and found it by mistake. Its really lovely, big parking area and no fees! Its just east of Pennan which you can easily walk to from Aberdour Beach, would recommend it if your up that way. Sunnyside beach is further west, there is an old derelict house with a wee car park to camp up and then a path down to the beach.
Had a few rough seas at Tangleha recently.......

No it's not that bad and there are plenty of repelents for them. The west coast is the worst area for them but not until july till oct.Tey can get quite bad first thing in the morning and in the evenings or after rain but when the sun is shining or there is a breeze they will be in hiding. Just don't let them put you off from comming to Scotland.

We have mostly never come across them except once, in Arran on the sea-front in Broddick and boy-oh-boy was it bad. But agree entirely with Donnieg - don't let it put you off.
If you have time you may tempted by a wee trip on the outer Hebrides. You can literally place the van more or less where you want to overnight. No trees. My dog ended up picking up peat in desperation.
Skye is quite popular in the summer and a bit clogged up by tourists.
If you stay on the mainland, I can recommend Achilitibuie, 20 odd miles west of Ullapool. Lovely drive.
Hi there, A cracking place in Argyll is on the shore toward Skipness, Kintyre 10 miles south of Tarbert LochFyne. Free camping ( no facilities mind) but outstanding views across Kilbrannan sound to Arran. Nice flat areas and places to light fires etc. Also by way of a bonus you'll pass by "Wagonbuild" , google it! Excellent source of T25 parts, so you won't get stuck in the outback of Argyll. Toot if you see me in me Dulux red Hitop!
If people looked after the things I wanted to buy, I couldn't afford them.
