Very dim instrument panel lights

Post by andysue »

Hi everyone just got my 1984 T25 1.9petrol Van. I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago but heres my first post any help would be much appreciated.

When the ignition switch is completely switched off and the headlights are on the instrument panel lights work fine and I can clearly see the speedometer etc at night. As soon as I turn the ignition switch on the lights are very dim and almost not on at all. Also when the ignition is off (panel lights are bright) and the flasher relay is operating the panel lights flick from bright to dim in time with the relay along with various warning/indications lights on the dash.

Thanks

Andy.

See that rotary knob beneath the headlight switch - er thats a dashlight dimmer 8)

More importantly perhaps, you need to look at the earth crowns tucked under your gloveb box as they may well be corroded causing all the above symptoms. Give the connections a good clean. Also a loose connector to dash clocks can cause probs.
