Re: Courtesey Lights
However, if you use an older alarm that is partially triggered by the light coming on (ie voltage drop), it won't work as LEDs draw so little current.

I've got the same LED festoons as shown and they are brilliant, twice as bright as the originals and white not yellow.
I will say however, that people naturally assume LED's use very little current and of course they are correct when comparing 1 bulb to 1 LED, trouble is in this case it's one 10 watt bulb compared to 16 LED's and from my understanding each LED is rated at 0.2watt so around 3.2 watts total, still a good saving but peeps need to work out just how much power these are using when the number of LED's is high.
For instance: I'm using 2 X 48 Led strips instead of an 8 watt tube inside one of the camper strip lamps. In this instance the Leds are using over 19 watts

That may or may not be so but I can verify that the LED bulbs don't trigger my alarm whereas the ordinary ones did. I can also leave all my LED sidelights on all night without flattening the battery which was not the case with the old ones
They win hands down but I agree, you can go overkill on them
