Euro Car Parts generally are the best priced and if you pull up outside, whip the battery out and plonk it on the counter, they'll sort you out. Bloke actually came outside and measured my battery box to see what he could get to fit. Doesn't have to be Bosch - just a meaty one. Think I had a Banner battery in my last diesel - lasted years.

Motoring is an expensive luxury/hobby. There's a philosophy which has stood me in good stead with all my years owning v-dubs and that's:

"If you need car parts, go to a bike shop and if you need bike parts, go to a car shop." - my thanks to Mad Sean (Colchester) for that one.

This seems to work since you can often find a solution at half the price. A few times I've even fixed a volkswagen with parts from a plumbers showroom. The exception seems to be batteries, oil and tyres and incidentally I only ever fit part-worn tyres now.
