Re: Oil pressure switch - no wiring
did you look in the junction box?.. VW wouldn't have forgotten to wire them up

Re: Oil pressure switch - no wiring
don't look for a loose wire..
Could you take another look for a black wire with a white trace in the junction box, it may be connected to a brown wire in the box
the brown wire is supposed to go to the switch on the engine.
this black/white wire goes all the way to the oil pressure monitor control unit (and the lamp) in the dash... to a 14 pin connector, on pin 13
I doubt very much this wire is missing, it would take an extraordinary amount of work to remove it.
Also there will be a green wire, again it may be connected to a brown wire, this is the 0.9 bar acoustic warning wire
and again this green wire goes to the dash (14 pin connector, pin 12)

Oil pressure switch - no wiring
Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Just managed to have a look in the black junction box (front LH side of engine compartment). Yes, there is a black wire with white trace but it goes to a white plug not to a brown wire. See photo (hopefully).
I have found a connector with two brown wires, one going to what I think will be the oil sensor on the LH side of the crankcase (can't see due to metal plate in the way). The other brown wire goes to a connection on the distributor body.
One bad thing with all this searching is that I've found that oil is still leaking from somewhere. It'll have to wait until spring when I'm at work (anyone know any good VW mechanics near Poole)
