blinking front diff led
Hello guys,
In my syncro the front diff is blinking before engagement.I don't like this at all and I prefer the older non-blinking system.I remove the covers in diff locks panel and the large one that is back from it but I was unable to find anything more than my other syncro that has the old system...Any more ideas where I have to look for it ?
Also instruments cluster is out but also nothing there...
Thanks guys,
Jim

Re: blinking front diff led
there supposed to blink as far as i know. your "older system" is likely to be defective. sure the vac sw behind the panel, switches when the lock is pulled and causes the circuit board to make the light flash when the lock enguages the switch at the diff puts the light on permanantly.
is that right guys ?????

Re: blinking front diff led
Unplugging the blinky board should fix your "problem". There is a plug connected to the locker board, follow the wiring back and you will find a 3 pronged plug with white, brown and blue wires. On the other side of the plug is a foam wrapped board that is what makes the light blink.
They are often broken due to a design flaw but yours seems to be still good.

Does anyone know if you can buy replacement circuit boards/fasher units?

Re: blinking front diff led
Lee is absolutely correct...I try 3 small circuit boards devices in the blinking car.2 are blink 1 is not.Then I put one of the good ones in the other car...No blink, change the vac sw and is blinking !

Thanks for putting this up Jim. Another bit of the jigsaw for a Syncro newbie.

Re: blinking front diff led
Busman had the updated version for sale on his site but I can't seem to get the link to work today- http://busman.shopfactory.com/contents/en-uk/d5.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Van Cafe in the states sells the kit and it includes the updated board as well as the vacuum pod, it is plug and play http://www.van-cafe.com/home/van/page_1 ... units.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It even has the option of making the rear locker light flash until it is engaged that I have found useful on several occasions.
