Camping near Birmingham

Dear All,

I've got to go to Birmingham in a week or so, and I've got to get to New Street Station, so does anyone know of a camp site close to a rail line that will get me into central Birmingham relatively quickly? I'll be coming from Wales, so it would be best for me to camp on the western side of the city. Any help would really be appreciated.

there is a camping and caravan site in clent about 4 miles from junction 4a of the m5.i have never been there myself as its only a couple of miles from where i live but it gets good revues and its about 6 miles from the main train line into brum.you can get the train either from longbridge or northfield there is free parking at northfield but no parking at all in lonbridge.alternativly you could drive to rubery where i am and park there and get the bus to longbridge only about 5 mins.the number for the site managers is 01562 710015. If you have any more questions dont hesitate to pm me or post another question as a fellow autosleeper owner i would be glad to give you any info about the area ect

There is Chapel Lane on the very south side of Brum - you can hop on the 50 bus (goes every 5-10 mins) straight to the City Centre,then one minute walk to New St station.

Sadly, for a big city we don't have many camping facilities The train lines from west usually run into Snow Hill or Moor St (I think). Moor St is a 2 min walk from New St though.

I'd offer a spot outside my house but I don't have a driveway.

Thanks for this Louey, but alas, since I'm going to a conference at the Uni I've given in and booked myself into a not too expensive hotel in Brum.

Shame about the lack of drive. But thanks for the thought!

Camping at the Uni? I wonder how that would have panned out? Anyway, the conference was very good so I'm not complaining!
