Opening Quarter Lights

Post by T3Aljezur »

HI all
Having just aquired my T3, mate who has one just told me the quarter lights (Opening variety) are rare
Is this true, and seeing as he offered me 100 euros straight away for them is this reasonable?
Only asking as might need funds to do engine refurb.
Thanks

All American vans had them - I think they are really cool and add character.
On this occasion I won't need a bigger boat...

Just the frames alone are nearly £200 new from Classicparts in germany.

Like most things they like to rust, especially at the bottom where they bolt to the door. First thing I did was to dismantle them, remove the seat, de-rust them, treat them and re-spray them.

Charming - lol sometimes the warmth and acceptance overwhelms me :)

I think the idea was so called warmer climates should have them or more so called luxury spec - I believe something similar applied to the mini

Mine stay open at warp speed 10 ( about 60 )
As for character, I thought that meant rust and suspiciously stained seats?

Not luxury spec seaside.. just what VW decided that the American market needed.
They were an option here that not many took up due to the mini experience probably :D

Exactly what i was gonna say :rollin

Personally i'd keep em, i had them on my last van and they were really handy! Plus I think they look good too, the only downside was i found one of mine leaked quite badly in the rain, i ended up having to tape it shut as i couldn't afford new seals at the time, but i guess that happens to any window with bad seals! I'm probably going to look into fitting some on my current van once i've sorted a few others issues and saved up the money!
